Ferdinando Meglio (born June 27, 1959 in Naples ) is a former Italian saber fencer .

successes

Ferdinando Meglio became vice world champion with the team in Melbourne in 1979 and in Rome in 1982 and also won bronze with them in 1983 in Vienna . At the European Championships in Foggia in 1981 he also won bronze in singles. Meglio took part in four Olympic Games : In 1980 he finished seventh in the individual in Moscow , while he reached the final undefeated with the team. In this, the Soviet Union prevailed 9-2, so that Meglio received the silver medal together with Michele Maffei , Mario Aldo Montano , Marco Romano and Giovanni Scalzo . Four years later he was again in the final fight with the Italian team in Los Angeles , in which France was defeated 9: 3. Thus Meglio became Olympic champion together with Angelo Arcidiacono , Gianfranco Dalla Barba , Marco Marin and Giovanni Scalzo . Another medal he won in 1988 in Seoul , when he became Massimo Cavaliere secured, Gianfranco Dalla Barba, Marco Marin and Giovanni Scalzo in the team event bronze. At the 1992 Olympic Games in Barcelona Meglio finished the individual in sixth and the team competition in eighth place.
