Endre Kabos [ ˈɛndrɛ ˈkɒboʃ ] (born November 5, 1906 in Großwardein , † November 4, 1944 in Budapest ) was a Hungarian saber fencer .

Kabos took part in the Summer Olympics in Los Angeles in 1932 and in Berlin in 1936 . At both games he was Olympic champion in team competition with the Hungarian team, in the individual competitions he won the bronze medal in 1932 and the gold medal in 1936. In addition, he became individual and team world champion in saber fencing in 1933, 1934 and 1936. At the European Championships in 1933 and 1934 he was able to win the individual and in 1931, 1933, 1934 and 1935 the team title.

Due to his Jewish origins, he was deported to a labor camp during World War II , was able to escape and joined the Hungarian resistance. He died when the Margaret Bridge in Budapest was accidentally blown up on November 4, 1944.

In 1986 he was inducted into the International Jewish Sports Hall of Fame in Netanya . There is a memorial plaque for Endre Kabos at the Berlin Olympic Stadium. Motifs from his life were taken up in the film " A Touch of Sunshine " (1999) by director István Szabó .
