Luigi Tarantino (born November 10, 1972 in Naples ) is an Italian saber fencer and two-time world champion.

Luigi Tarantino won bronze with the Saber team at the European Championships in Lisbon in 1992 and also in Krakow in 1994 . In 1995 in The Hague, he was team world champion with Raffaello Caserta , Tonhi Terenzi and Marco Marin and won bronze in the individual. In 1996 he won bronze at the European Championships in Limoges in singles, at the Olympic Games in Atlanta he achieved bronze with the same team and eleventh place in singles.

In 1997 Tarantino won silver at the World Championships in Cape Town behind Stanislav Posdnjakow . In 1998 he was individual world champion in La Chaux-de-Fonds and won silver in both individual and team at the European Championships in Plovdiv. In 1999 he won silver in singles at the European Championships in Bolzano , bronze with the team and won bronze in singles at the World Championships in Seoul. In 2000 at the Olympic Games in Sydney Tarantino took eighth place with the team and 18th place in the individual.

In 2002 Tarantino won silver at the European Championships in Moscow with the team behind the team from Russia, at the World Championships in Lisbon also and bronze in the individual. 2003 at the European Championships in Bourges silver again with the team behind Russia and bronze in the individual. In 2004 at the Olympic Games in Athens Giampiero Pastore , Aldo Montano and Luigi Tarantino won silver with the team, although they were ahead of the Russian team but defeated by the French team. Tarantino took ninth place in the individual.

In 2005 Tarantino won silver with the team at the World Championships in Leipzig, and in 2007 it was bronze with the team at the World Championships in St. Petersburg. In 2009, the team from Aldo Montano, Diego Occhiuzzi , Giampiero Pastore and himself won the European Championships in Plovdiv, at the World Championships in Antalya, silver with the team and bronze in the individual.
