Wassil Etropolski ( Bulgarian Васил Етрополски ; born March 18, 1959 in Sofia ) is a former Bulgarian saber fencer .
successes
Wassil Etropolski became individual world champion in Vienna in 1983 . Because of this success, he was voted Bulgarian Sportsman of the Year . In 1985 he finished third in Barcelona while winning silver with the team. In the team competition, he won bronze in Sofia in 1986 and silver in Lausanne in 1987 . He took part in the Olympic Games twice: in 1980 he just missed a medal win in Moscow with fourth place in the individual. He finished eighth with the Bulgarian team. BothAt the 1988 Olympic Games in Seoul , where he was the flag bearer of the Bulgarian delegation at the opening ceremony , he reached 13th place in the individual and again eighth place with the team.
His twin brother Christo Etropolski was also a fencer.
