Fencing World Championships 2007
The fencing world championship 2007 took place from September 28th to October 7th 2007 in the Russian city of St. Petersburg . The World Congress of the International Fencing Federation awarded the event during its meeting on November 12, 2005 in Doha . The candidacy from St. Petersburg prevailed against that of the Bulgarian city of Plovdiv with 52:40 votes .
This was the second time that Russia hosted the World Fencing Championships . Before that, only Moscow in 1966 hosted the event.
