Sylwia Gruchała (born November 6, 1981 in Gdynia ) is a Polish foil fencer .

The sports student from Gdansk is one of the most popular athletes in her country. After some junior successes , she became known at the 2000 Summer Olympics in Sydney when she won the silver medal in the team competition together with Magdalena Mroczkiewicz , Anna Rybicka and Barbara Wolnicka . She also became European champion for the first time in 2000 . She was able to repeat this success in 2002 and 2005 .

In 2003 and 2007 she became world champion with the Polish team and in 2003 she was vice world champion in individual. She lost the final at these world championships in Havana against the Italian Valentina Vezzali . At the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens , she won her first individual medal at the Olympic Games with the bronze medal.
