Tan Xue

Tan Xue ( Chinese  谭 雪 , Pinyin Tán Xuě ; born January 30, 1984 in Tianjin ) is a Chinese sword fencer . In 2002 she became world fencing champion , in 2004 she won the silver medal at the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens .

Career

At the World Championships in Lisbon in 2002 , Tan Xue won the gold medal in the saber singles. A year later, at the 2003 World Cup in Havana , she was second in both singles and with the saber team. Tan Xue won the silver medal in the saber singles at the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens . With the team she was then sixth at the 2005 World Cup in Leipzig and seventh at the 2006 World Cup in Turin . In St. Petersburg , where the 2007 World Championship was held, Tan Xue came second in the saber singles. With the team she reached fifth place. In 2008 Tan Xue became the Asian champion in Bangkok .

She was a member of the Chinese team for the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing and competed in both saber singles and with the saber team. Tan Xue defeated the German Alexandra Bujdosó 15: 6 in the round of 32 and was able to survive the next round. In the quarter-finals she was defeated by the Russian Sofja Velikaja with 9:15. With the team she won silver, they were defeated by the Ukraine in the final as close as possible with 44:45, with Olha Charlan alone scoring 22 points against the Chinese team.

In 2010 she again won the Asian Cup in Seoul .
