Rebecca Ward
Rebecca "Becca" Ward (born February 7, 1990 in Grand Junction , Colorado ) is an American saber fencer .
Rebecca Ward won the title with the team at the world championships in Leipzig in 2005 as a 15-year-old . In the individual, she finished fifth. The following year she became world champion and silver medalist with the team in the individual in Turin . The 2007 world title competitions were far worse for the American. In St. Petersburg she was 17th in the individual and seventh with the team. Between 2006 and 2008 she was also able to win World Cup events ten times and was second three times and third once.
At the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing , Rebecca Ward won the bronze medal behind her teammates Mariel Zagunis and Sada Jacobson in the triple success of the United States . In the decisive fight Ward prevailed with 15:14 hits against the Russian Sofija Velikaja . She also won the bronze medal with the team.
