Fencing World Championships 2014

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The 2014 World Fencing Championships took place from July 15 to 23, 2014 in Kazan , the capital of the Republic of Tatarstan in Russia .

After only the Bulgarian Fencing Association applied for the 2014 World Championships at the FIE Congress in Philadelphia in December 2011 , Sofia was confirmed as the venue for the FIE Congress in Moscow in December 2012 . However, since the Bulgarian Fencing Federation returned the organization due to financial problems, the FIE congress on December 1, 2013 decided on Kazan as the venue.

Competitions and schedule

The program included competitions in the swords, foils and sabers, divided into individual and teams as well as women and men. Therefore 12 gold and 12 silver medals were awarded. Since the third place in the individual was not fought, in the team competitions it was, there were divided places and thus 18 bronze medals.
