Gauthier Grumier (born May 29, 1984 in Nevers ) is a former French sword fencer . He is an Olympic champion and has won gold several times at world and European championships.

successes

Gauthier Grumier had his greatest successes with the team. In 2003 , 2011 , 2015 and 2016 he was European champion with her , in 2006 , 2009 , 2010 , 2011 and 2014 he won the world championship with the team . He also won a silver medal with her at the 2012 World Cup . But Grumier was also successful in the individual at both championships. In 2009 he reached the podium in third place in Plovdiv before becoming European champion in 2015 . At world championships he won bronze in Kazan in 2014 and silver in Paris in 2010 and in Moscow in 2015 .

The left-hander took part in the Olympic Games twice. In 2012 he finished 18th in London . Four years later, at the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro , the individual competition was more successful for Gauthier. He reached the semifinals, in which he was defeated by Géza Imre with 13:15. He won the final battle for bronze against Benjamin Steffen with 15:11. With the team he reached the final after victories against Venezuela and Hungary , which was won against Italy with 45:31. Grumier became Olympic champion together with Yannick Borel , Daniel Jérent and Jean-Michel Lucenay . Following the games, he announced the end of his career. For his Olympic victory at the end of 2016 he received the Knight's Cross of the Legion of Honor .

Grumier is married.
