Rafael Nickel
Rafael Nickel (born July 30, 1958 in Hamburg ) is a former German fencer who competed for FC Tauberbischofsheim .
Life
In 1983 Rafael Nickel was German champion with the sword . At the fencing world championships in 1983 he won silver with the German team. At the 1984 Olympic Games in Los Angeles, Rafael Nickel won the gold medal with the German team, after defeating the French team around the individual Olympic champion Philippe Boisse 8: 5 in the final. For winning the gold medal, he and the team received the silver laurel leaf.
During his career, Nickel studied at the University of Veterinary Medicine in Hanover. Today he works as a veterinarian in Norderstedt .
