HGBS was a German music label and recording studio that has been based in Villingen-Schwenningen since the 1980s .

HGBS was the label of the entrepreneurial company HGBS Musikproduktion . The abbreviation HGBS stands for Hans Georg Brunner-Schwer , the former sound engineer and producer of MPS . After Brunner-Schwer had sold MPS to the Dutch Philips Group in 1983 , he continued the production of music recordings in his studio, which were published in small editions under his name initials HGBS . Mainly film, dance and light music etc. appeared on the label . a. Georg Haentzschel , Bully Buhlan & Erwin Lehn / Südfunk Tanzorchester ( That was his Milljöh ), Toni Stricker and the SWF dance orchestra under the direction of Rolf-Hans Müller ( Romantic Jazz ). The sampler HGBS Swingtime contained music by Erwin Lehn, Monty Alexander , Horst Jankowski and Milt Buckner . After Brunner-Schwers death in October 2004, son Matthias Brunner-Schwer and Friedhelm Schulz continued the activities of HGBS as a recording studio and as a music label; From the end of the 2000s, HGBS re-released the MPS recordings by Wolfgang Dauner ( Knirsch ), George Duke ( The Dream ), Dieter Reith ( Join Us ) and Attila Zoller / Lee Konitz / Albert Mangelsdorff ( Zo-Ko-Ma ). The studio of the same name in Villingen is the former MPS studio, in which productions a. a. von Dauner ( Tribute to the Past ), Johannes Mössinger , Gee Hye Lee ( Geenius Monday ), Magnus Mehl / Bernd Konrad ( Two Generations ), Baby Sommer / Michel Godard / Patrick Bebelaar ( Three Seasons ), Markus Lüpertz ( Herzschmerz ), Annette Maye & Gianluigi Trovesi , Susanne Menzel / Klaus Ignatzek ( Mariposa ), Frank Kuruc , Veronika Morscher , Charlotte Ortmann and Christoph Spendel for the label. In addition, productions for other labels such as La Paloma by Ulrich Gumpert / Günter Baby Sommer were made in the studio . In 2017, an application for insolvency by HGBS Musikproduktion was rejected by the local court “for lack of assets”.
