Giorgio Anglesio

Giorgio Anglesio (born April 13, 1922 in Turin , † July 24, 2007 in Rocca Canavese ) was an Italian sword fencer .

Giorgio Anglesio won his first international title with the team at the Fencing World Championships in 1950 along with Giuseppe Delfino , Dario Mangiarotti , Edoardo Mangiarotti , Fiorenzo Marini and Carlo Pavesi . In 1953 Anglesio returned to the Italian team and won his second world title together with Franco Bertinetti , Delfino, the Mangioarotti brothers and Pavesi. 1954 with Armando Dellantonio for Dario Mangiarotti, the Italian team defended the title. Also at the 1955 World Fencing Championshipsin Rome the Italian epee team won, now with Alberto Pellegrino for Dellantonio. In the individual ranking, all three medals went to Italians, Giorgio Anglesio won the title ahead of Bertinetti and Pavesi.

When they won the Olympic Games in 1956 , Anglesio, Bertinetti, Delfino, Edoardo Mangiarotti, Pavesi and Pellegrino included the same fencers in the Italian team as in the previous year. Anglesio was only used in two preliminary rounds and lost five of his eight battles there. Anglesio won his last international title with the team at the Fencing World Championships in 1957 together with Bertinetti, Delfino, Pavesi, Pellegrino and Gianluigi Saccaro .

Giorgio Anglesio won his only Italian single title in 1954.
