Wang Lei ( Chinese  王磊 , Pinyin Wáng Lěi ; born March 20, 1981 in Shanghai ) is a former Chinese sword fencer .

successes

Wang Lei won three silver and one gold at the Asian Games . In 2002 he stayed in Busan both individually and with the team in the final without a win and four years later in Doha he reached the final. In the individual this time he managed to win and win the gold medal. In the same year he won his only medal at world championships when he became world champion in Turin . He also won several medals at the Asian Championships and was Asian champion with the team in Nantong in 2007 .

Wang participated in two Olympic Games . With the team, he placed seventh in 2004 in Athens . In the singles he made it into the final, which he lost to Marcel Fischer with 9:15. At the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing , he lost his opening match in singles, while he reached the semi-finals with the team. After defeats against Poland and Italy , the Chinese team stayed in fourth place.
