Rolf Erik Sören Edling (born November 30, 1943 in Mumbai , India ) is a former Swedish sword fencer .

Rolf Edling was world champion in 1973 in Gothenburg and 1974 in Grenoble in the individual as well as 1974, 1975 in Budapest and 1977 in Buenos Aires with the team world champion . In 1977 he secured silver in the individual, and in 1971 he also won individual bronze in Vienna . In the team competition he won further bronze medals in Havana in 1969 , in Vienna in 1971 and in Hamburg in 1978 . He took part in the Olympic Games four times : in 1968 he finished ninth with the team in Mexico City , four years later he was seventh with the team in Munich . He finished the individual competition in 1972 in fifth place. At the 1976 Olympic Games in Montreal he reached the final unbeaten in the team competition, in which the Swedish team beat Germany 8-5. Together with Göran Flodström , Carl von Essen , Leif Högström and Hans Jacobson , Edling became Olympic champion . In the individual competition he took sixth place. In 1980 he missed another medal win in Moscow when he finished fourth in the singles, while he was fifth with the team.

In 1973 he was awarded the Svenska Dagbladet gold medal.
