Okayama 1000km race 2006
The 2006 Okayama 1000km race took place on October 22nd at the Okayama International Circuit and was the third and final round of the Japan Le Mans Challenge that year.
The race
With 20 registered vehicles, more teams competed in the last race of the Japan Le Mans Challenge than in any other of the 2006 season. After the start, Hiroki Katō led in the Zytek 04S before Seiji Ara in the Courage LC70 . The two lapped third-placed JLOC Lamborghini after 15 minutes of racing. After the Zytek made a pit stop to cool the prototype, Courage took the lead.
In the end, Seiji Ara and Haruki Kurosawa won by a large margin over Yuuya Sakamoto, Yoshihisa Namekata and Tomonobu Fujii in Team MYZ's Dallara GC21. Third place went to the Lamborghini owned by Kōji Yamanishi , Yasutaka Hinoi and Hisashi Wada. The best-placed vehicle in the GT2 class was the Porsche 964, driven by Yutaka Matsushima, Takeshi Inui and Hitoshi Kakiuchi.
