Motegi 1000 km race in 2006
The Motegi 1000 km race 2006 , also Motegi Sportscar 1000 km Endurance Race, Twin Ring Motegi , took place on July 2nd on the road circuit of the Twin Ring Motegi and was the second round of the Japan Le Mans Challenge of this year.
The race
With 13 vehicles, one took part in the training more than in the previous race in Sugo. The Mazda from Team Nopro could not qualify for the race, so the race started with 12 participants. Similar to Sugo, the favored Zytek 04S fell far in the lead, this time with problems with the gearbox. Tatsuya Kataoka , Naoki Hattori and Eiichi Tajima won a second time in a row in front of a prototype of the LMP2 class. The only rated LMP1 prototype, piloted by Takahiko Shimazawa, Hiroshi Oota and Kenji Takeya, crossed the finish line in 6th overall position.
