Yasutaka Hinoi ( Japanese 桧 井 保 孝 , Hinoi Yasutaka ; born May 11, 1969 in Hiroshima Prefecture ) is a former Japanese car racing driver .

Go Mifune

Yasutaka Hinoi was in the 2000s by his Japanese race fans the nickname Gō Mifune ( 三船剛 missed). Career

Hinoi tried early to gain a foothold in European motorsport. Without much experience and with little sponsorship, he came to Great Britain in 1991. After only one year in the British Formula Vauxhall , he returned to Japan. The championship had contested for David Sears ' racing team , David Sears Motorsport (the predecessor racing team of Super Nova Racing ) and finished ninth overall ( Kelvin Burt became champion ). In 1992 he started in the Japanese Formula 3 championship . There he met many pilots who went the opposite way than he did; from Europe and North America to Japan. Opponents this year included Jacques Villeneuve , Rickard Rydell and Tom Kristensen . Champion Anthony Reid ; Hinoi was twelfth in the annual ranking. Two moderately successful years in the domestic Formula 3000 championship followed , then he switched to GT racing .

He became a regular participant in the Super GT , where he had his field of activity until the end of his career in 2007. His greatest success in a sports car race was third overall in the 2006 Okayama 1000km race , a championship race of that year's Japan Le Mans Challenge .
