The Japan Le Mans Challenge (JLMC for short) was a Japanese endurance racing series organized by the Sports Car Endurance Race Operation (SERO) in 2006 and 2007, which was conducted in 2006 and 2007 according to the rules and guidelines of the Automobile Club de l'Ouest (ACO ) was carried out.
history
The first season of the Japan Le Mans Challenge included 3 races in Japan, the first two of which were won by Takahiki Shimazawa and Kenji Takeya with different driver colleagues. In the second and last season, 4 races were held, the first three of which were won by Hideki Noda & Shinsuke Yamazaki .
There were 4 racing classes: LMP1, LMP2, GT1 and GT2. Points were awarded to the best drivers and teams in each class. Although the names of the classes were identical, the regulations differed from those of the 24 Hours of Le Mans or the Le Mans Series . Vehicles such as the Dallara GC21 , which was based on the Formula 3 chassis from Dallara, or the Oscar SK93 were included in the prototype classes .
The racing series suffered permanently from a low number of participants, which prompted the SERO to pass the organization on to the ACO after the 2007 season. This decided to end the racing series and announced the Asian Le Mans Series as its successor, which carried out the first round of the season in 2009.
