Naoki Hattori ( Japanese 服 部 尚 貴 , Hattori Naoki ; born June 13, 1966 in Yokkaichi , Japan ) is a former Japanese automobile racing driver and motorsport journalist .

Career

Hattori won the overall ranking of the Japanese Formula 3 championship in 1990 . The following year he failed in two Formula 1 races for the Coloni in the pre-qualification. He replaced the Portuguese Pedro Chaves at the end of the season .

In the mid-1990s he drove in the Indy Lights and the Champ Car series, where he achieved his best result in 1999 with a 14th place for Walker Racing . He also started in the 1996 ITC at his home race in Suzuka in an Alfa Romeo .

In 1995 he contested the 24-hour race at Le Mans , but was not classified due to a lack of distance covered.
