Sugo 1000 km race in 2006
The Sugo 1000 km race in 2006 , also known as the Sugo Sportscar 1000 km Endurance Race, Sports Land Sugo , took place on May 14th at Sportsland SUGO and was the first race of the Japan Le Mans Challenge this year.
The race
The first race in the history of the Japan Le Mans Challenge started with a small field; only 12 vehicles were entered for the race. After the start, the Zytek 04S quickly gained a large lead over the other vehicles, as expected, and overtook the first Grand Turismo vehicles after just 20 minutes . After the second pit stop, however, the prototype rolled out due to electronic problems in the last corner and was unable to restart the race. With one lap won Tatsuya Kataoka , Naoki Hattori and Eiichi Tajima in a Ferrari 550 Maranello before the first prototype in the LMP2 class, a Dallara GC21, which on a 3Formel-3 formula - seater based.
