The Mosler MT900 is an American super sports car produced by Mosler Automotive in Florida . The car was developed by Rod Trenne , who had previously mainly worked on the Corvette C5 , the process was financed by Warren Mosler. The goal during development was to build the fastest and most reliable road sports car in the world. The MT900 is designed for the Daytona 24-hour race .
description
The Mosler MT900 is also built in collaboration between racing teams and Mosler Automotive in England. On this basis, together with Mosler Germany and other motorsport partners (e.g. BBS or Recaro ), the MT900 GTR, a road version of the MT900 racing car, is being developed.
The Mosler MT900 won the FIA GT Championship in Great Britain and Spain in 2003.
technology
The MT900 GTR meets all European crash test and emission guidelines. The body consists entirely of carbon fiber reinforced plastic (CFRP), the chassis and the passenger cell are designed as a sandwich honeycomb core construction made of CFRP and together weigh about 90 kg. The rear wing and the interior are also made of CFRP.
The car is powered by a GM V8 mid-engine that is also used in the Corvette . The output level of the basic model starts at 350 hp from 5.7 liters from the LS1 engine of the Corvette C5 . The most powerfully motorized model (as of 2010) had 376 kW / 512 PS and could be expanded to 441 kW / 600 PS. The 7.0 l LS7 engine comes from the Corvette C6 Z06 .
The sports car is delivered with a 6-speed gearbox from Getrag or, on request, with a sequential 6-speed gearbox from Hewland .
The empty weight of the vehicle is approx. 950–1250 kg with a full tank, depending on the version and equipment.
Depending on the engine, acceleration is between 3.1–3.9 s from 0–100 km / h, and the top speed is up to 340 km / h.
The FIA has approved the MT900 GT3 for the European GT3 championship on the condition that Mosler field at least 3 vehicles in 2007 and at least 6 vehicles in 2008.
