NGC 4105 is an elliptical galaxy of the Hubble type E3 with an active galaxy core in the constellation Hydra south of the ecliptic . It is an estimated 79 million light-years from the Milky Way and about 70,000 light-years in diameter. Presumably it forms a gravitationally bound galaxy pair together with NGC 4106 and it is the brightest galaxy of the NGC 4105 group ( LGG 270 ).
The galaxies IC 760 , IC 2996 , IC 3005 , IC 3010 are located in the same area of the sky .
The object was discovered by Wilhelm Herschel on March 7, 1791 .
