NGC 4091 is a spiral galaxy of the Hubble type Sbc with an active galaxy core in the constellation Coma Berenices in the northern sky . It is estimated to be 342 million light years from the Milky Way and about 90,000 light years in diameter. Presumably it forms a gravitationally bound galaxy pair together with NGC 4089 .
In the same area of the sky are u. a. the galaxies NGC 4092 , NGC 4093 , NGC 4095 , NGC 4098 .
The object was discovered by Heinrich Louis d'Arrest on May 2, 1864 .
