Francesco Corrias

Francesco Corrias (* 18 July 1933 in Nice ) is a Italian diplomat in retirement .

Life

He is married to Frances S. de Villers Brokaw and has two daughters.

In 1958 he graduated in Economics at the University La Sapienza from.

Diplomatic career

In 1960 he joined the foreign service and was employed in the cultural department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. In 1962 he headed the Consulate in Cardiff (Wales) and was Vice Consul at the Consulate General in London. In 1963 he was appointed Secretary of the Second Class. In 1964 he became deputy head of the Consulate General in Paris . From 1965 to 1967 he was First Class Secretary to Washington, DC From 1968 to 1969 he was Counselor in Tokyo . In 1970 he was employed in the Comecon department at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. In 1972 he was Deputy Head of the Middle East, Africa and Asia Department and Deputy Head of the Credit Insurance Commission, responsible for providing financial aid and export credits to emerging economies. In 1974 he headed the planning and research department. In 1975 he was Counselor in Lisbon .

From 1979 to June 6, 1983 he was ambassador to Luanda ( Angola ) and was also accredited to São Tomé ( São Tomé and Príncipe ).

From October 17, 1985 to 1993 he had exequatur as consul general in New York City .

From 1994 to 1999 he was ambassador to Brussels .
