Francesco Lanata

Francesco Lanata (born August 29, 1940 in Treviso ; † August 20, 2018 ) was an Italian diplomat .

In 1966, he graduated in law at the University of La Sapienza from. He was married to Aurelia Sini.

Diplomatic career

In 1967 he joined the foreign service and was employed in the migration department. From 1971 to 1980 he was the first consul of Asmara , then he was the first class secretary of the embassy in Brussels. Legation Council in Damascus . In 1980 he was employed in the EU department . In 1983 he was first-class delegation secretary in Beirut , then consul general in Madrid .

From 1988 to January 19, 1992 he was ambassador to Luanda ( Angola ) and was also accredited to São Tomé ( São Tomé and Príncipe ).

From January 19, 1992 to 1993, he headed Department 7, Migration, and from 1994 to 1997, Department 4.

From 1998 to 2005 he was ambassador to Yaoundé ( Cameroon ). In 1981 he was accepted as a Knight Commander in the Order of Merit of the Italian Republic .
