NGC 4123 is an active bar-spiral galaxy of the Hubble-type SBb with a high rate of star formation in the constellation Virgo on the ecliptic . It is an estimated 55 million light years away from the Milky Way and is about 70,000 light years in diameter. Together with NGC 4116 , it forms the gravitationally bound galaxy pair KPG 322 and is the brightest member of the NGC 4123 group ( LGG 275 ).

The object was discovered on January 24, 1784 by Wilhelm Herschel using an 18.7 inch mirror telescope.
