NGC 4144 is a bar-spiral galaxy with extensive star formation regions of the Hubble type SBc in the constellation Great Bear in the northern sky . It is estimated to be 14 million light years from the Milky Way and 25,000 light years across.
The object was discovered by Wilhelm Herschel on April 10, 1788 .
