NGC 4169 is a lenticular galaxy with an active nucleus of the Hubble type S0 in the constellation Haar der Berenike in the northern sky . It is estimated 169 million light years from the Milky Way and has a diameter of about 90,000 ly.
Together with NGC 4173 , NGC 4174 and NGC 4175 , it forms the Hickson Compact Group 61 ( The Box ).

The object was discovered on April 11, 1785 by the German-British astronomer William Herschel .
