NGC 4176 is a spiral galaxy of Hubble type Sb with extensive star formation in the constellation Virgo to the ecliptic . It is estimated to be 245 million light-years from the Milky Way and about 50,000 light-years across.
The galaxy NGC 4129 is located in the same area of the sky .
The property was discovered by Francis Preserved Leavenworth in 1886 .
