Messier 98 (also known as NGC 4192) is a 10.1 mag bright spiral galaxy with an area of 9.8 '× 2.8' in the constellation Haar der Berenike .
M98 is a Hubble-type Sb galaxy that we see almost from the side. It is around 50 million light years away from Earth, lies on the northern edge of the Virgo galaxy cluster and is one of the more difficult-to-find objects in the Messier catalog for amateurs . It is estimated that Messier 98 contains about one trillion stars.

The galaxy Messier 98 was discovered on March 15, 1781 by the French astronomer Pierre Méchain .
