NGC 4204 is a barred spiral galaxy of the Hubble type SBdm in the constellation Haar der Berenike in the northern sky . It is estimated to be 38 million light years from the Milky Way and about 40,000 light years in diameter.
The object was discovered on April 27, 1785 by the astronomer William Herschel using his 18.7 inch reflector telescope.
