NGC 4208 = NGC 4212 is an active spiral galaxy of the Hubble type Sc with extensive star formation areas in the constellation Coma Berenices in the northern sky . It is estimated to be 11 million light years from the Milky Way and about 30,000 light years in diameter . It is listed as a member of the Virgo galaxy cluster under the catalog name VCC 157 . In the same area of ​​the sky are u. a. the galaxies IC 3058 , IC 3061 , IC 3073 , IC 3080 .

The object was discovered by Wilhelm Herschel on April 8, 1784 .
