NGC 4219 is a spiral galaxy of Hubble type Sbc in the constellation Centaurus in the southern sky . It is estimated to be 80 million light years away from the Milky Way and about 90,000 light years in diameter .
The object was discovered on June 3, 1834 by the astronomer John Herschel using his 18.7-inch telescope.
