NGC 4199 is an elliptical galaxy of Hubble type E in the constellation Ursa Major at the northern sky . It is estimated to be 809 million light years from the Milky Way . Together with PGC 200285 (also NGC 4199-2 ) it forms a gravitationally bound galaxy pair .
The object was discovered by Wilhelm Herschel on April 17, 1789 .
