Fraisses is a French municipality with 3723 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017) in the department of Loire in the region Auvergne Rhône-Alpes . The municipality belongs to the arrondissement of Saint-Étienne and the canton of Firminy .
geography
Fraisses is located on the Ondaine River , about 9 km southwest of Saint-Étienne . Fraisses is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Unieux in the north and north-east, Firminy in the east and south-east, Saint-Ferréol-d'Auroure (Haute-Loire) in the south and south-west and Saint-Paul-en-Cornillon in the west and north-west.
Route nationale 88 runs along the eastern edge of the municipality .

In 1793 the parish was detached from the neighboring parish Firminy.
