Colombier is a French municipality with 305 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017) in the Loire department in the region of Auvergne Rhône-Alpes in Canton Le Pilat (2015: Canton Bourg-Argental ) and part of the municipal association Monts du Pilat . The municipality is part of the Pilat Regional Nature Park .

Colombier is located about 15 kilometers southeast of Saint-Étienne . Colombier is surrounded by the neighboring communities Doizieux in the north, Véranne in the east and northeast, Saint-Appolinard in the east, Saint-Julien-Molin-Moulette in the south and southeast, Bourg-Argental in the south and southwest, Thélis-la-Combe in the west and Southwest, Graix in the west and La Valla-en-Gier in the northwest.
