L'Horme is a French commune with 4,790 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017) in the department of Loire in the region Auvergne Rhône-Alpes . It belongs to the arrondissement of Saint-Étienne and the canton of Saint-Chamond (until 2015: canton of La Grand-Croix ). The inhabitants are called Hormois (es) .

geography

L'Horme is located in the valley of the river Gier , about 13 kilometers northeast of Saint-Étienne . L'Horme is surrounded by the neighboring communities Cellieu in the north, La Grand-Croix in the northeast, Saint-Paul-en-Jarez in the east and southeast and Saint-Chamond in the south and west.

The A47 autoroute runs through the municipality from Saint-Étienne to Givors or towards Lyon . The municipality's train station is on the Saint-Étienne – Lyon railway line .

Community partnerships

L'Horme has had a partnership with the district of Pian di Scò in the Italian municipality of Castelfranco Piandiscò in the province of Arezzo (Tuscany) since 1993. Another partnership exists with the Italian municipality of Scarperia e San Piero in the province of Florence (also Tuscany).
