Planfoy is a French commune with 1,039 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017) in the department of Loire in the region Auvergne Rhône-Alpes . The municipality belongs to the arrondissement of Saint-Étienne in the canton of Le Pilat (until 2015: canton of Saint-Genest-Malifaux ). The residents are called Planfoyards .
geography
Planfoy is located about seven kilometers south-southeast of the city center of Saint-Etienne in the historic Forez landscape on the Furan River . Planfoy is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Saint-Étienne in the north and east, Saint-Genest-Malifaux in the south and west and la Ricamarie in the north-west.
