Saint-Christo-en-Jarez is located about twelve kilometers northeast of Saint-Étienne on the Onzon River . Saint-Christo-en-Jarez is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Marcenod in the north, Saint-Romain-en-Jarez in the north-east, Valfleury and Cellieu in the east, Saint-Chamond in the south and south-east, Sorbiers in the south-west, Fontanés in the west and Grammond in the Northwest.
