Saint-Priest-en-Jarez is a French commune in the department of Loire in the region Auvergne Rhône-Alpes . It belongs to the arrondissement of Saint-Étienne and the canton of Saint-Étienne-5 . The 6120 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) of the community call themselves Mounards .
geography
Saint-Priest-en-Jarez is located about 40 kilometers southwest of Lyon in the Massif Central . The Furan River forms the northern and eastern municipal boundaries. Saint-Priest-en-Jarez is surrounded by the neighboring communities of L'Étrat in the north and north-west, La Tour-en-Jarez in the east and north-east, Saint-Étienne in the south and Villars in the west and south-west.
The A72 autoroute and the national route 88 run through the municipality .
