Marlhes is a French commune with 1,292 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017) in the department of Loire in the region Auvergne Rhône-Alpes . The municipality belongs to the arrondissement of Saint-Étienne in the canton of Le Pilat . The inhabitants are called Marlhiens .
geography
Marlhes is located about 17 kilometers south of Saint-Étienne in the historic Forez landscape . The Semène river limits the municipality to the north and north-west. Marlhes is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Saint-Genest-Malifaux in the north, Saint-Régis-du-Coin in the east, Riotord in the south, Saint-Romain-Lachalm in the south-west, Saint-Victor-Malescours in the west and Jonzieux in the north-west.
