Jonzieux is a French commune with 1,170 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017) in the department of Loire in the region Auvergne Rhône-Alpes . The municipality belongs to the arrondissement of Saint-Étienne in the canton of Le Pilat (until 2015: canton of Saint-Genest-Malifaux ).

geography

Jonzieux is located about 13 kilometers south-southwest of Saint-Étienne in the historic Forez landscape . The Semène limits the municipality to the east. Jonzieux is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Saint-Romain-les-Atheux in the north, Saint-Genest-Malifaux in the north-east, Marlhes in the east, Saint-Victor-Malescours in the south and south-west and Saint-Just-Malmont in the west and north-west.
