La Talaudière is about six kilometers northeast of Saint-Étienne . The Onzon flows through the village . La Talaudière is surrounded by the neighboring municipalities of Sorbiers in the north and east, Saint-Jean-Bonnefonds in the south-east, Saint-Étienne in the south and south-west and La Tour-en-Jarez in the west.

history

The place is first mentioned as a small hamlet in 1378. In 1872 the place was detached from the neighboring municipality of Sorbiers and from parts of the municipality of Saint-Jean-Bonnefonds and La Tour-en-Jarez to form an independent municipality.
