Attractions

Has become known Firminy Vert by town planning of Le Corbusier , who here the church of Saint Pierre , the stadium , the youth and culture (now Espace Le Corbusier) and Unité d'Habitation (apartment) built. This urban plan (1964–1969) is Le Corbusier's only one in Europe.

The Saint Pierre Church opened in 2006. Completion had been delayed for financial and political reasons since the foundation stone was laid in 1970. The construction, completed by Le Corbusier's former assistant José Oubrerie, could ultimately only be financed with public funds, which, due to the strict separation of church and state ( secularism ) in France, also meant that the church was considered a cultural site.
