The Scottish Exhibition and Conference Center , or SECC for short , is an exhibition and convention center in Glasgow and the largest in Scotland .

From 1979 the center was built on the former Queen's Dock on the banks of the Clyde and opened on September 6, 1985. After an extension to the multi-purpose hall SSE Hydro , which was completed in 2013 according to a design by Foster + Partners , the complex consists of various halls, including two halls with a spectator capacity of 10,000 or 5,852 seats and a side hall with 1,000 seats and the Clyde Auditorium with a number of 3,000 seats. The building complex also includes intrigued restaurants and a hotel with luxurious suites and standard rooms. Snooker events have already taken place in the main hall , as well as music events and concerts such as the Eurovision Dance Contest 2008 . In SECC Hydro musicians gave as Prince , Lady Gaga , Adele , Madonna , Rod Stewart , Ellie Goulding , Beyoncé , Taylor Swift , Bette Midler , Justin Bieber , Nicki Minaj and Mariah Carey her concerts. Also, The Who and U2 have performed there.
