Riotord ( Occitan : Riutort ) is a French municipality with 1174 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017) in the department of Haute-Loire in the region Auvergne Rhône-Alpes . It belongs to the arrondissement of Yssingeaux and the canton of Boutières (until 2015: canton of Montfaucon-en-Velay ).
geography
Riotord is the easternmost commune in the Haute-Loire department. It is located about 46 kilometers east-northeast of Le Puy-en-Velay and about 22 kilometers south of Saint-Étienne in the Velay , a landscape in the French Massif Central . Riotord is surrounded by the neighboring municipalities of Marlhes in the north, Saint-Régis-du-Coin in the north and northeast, Saint-Sauveur-en-Rue in the northeast, Burdignes in the east, Vanosc in the east and southeast, Saint-Julien-Molhesabate in the south, Dunières in the west and Saint-Romain-Lachalm in the northwest.
