La Séauve-sur-Semène ( Occitan : La Seuva de Simeon ) is a French municipality with 1470 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017) in the department of Haute-Loire in the region Auvergne Rhône-Alpes . It belongs to the arrondissement of Yssingeaux and the canton of Deux Rivières et Vallées (until 2015: canton of Saint-Didier-en-Velay ). The inhabitants are called Séauvois .
geography
La Séauve-sur-Semène is located in the Velay , a landscape in the French Massif Central , and in the Forez about 20 kilometers southwest of Saint-Étienne on the Semène , a tributary of the Loire . La Séauve-sur-Semène is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Pont-Salomon in the north, Saint-Didier-en-Velay in the east, Sainte-Sigolène in the south and Monistrol-sur-Loire in the west.

In 1925 the parish was formed from parts of the commune of Saint-Didier-en-Velay.
