Pont-Salomon is a French commune with 2,019 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017) in the department of Haute-Loire in the region Auvergne Rhône-Alpes . It belongs to the arrondissement of Yssingeaux and the canton of Aurec-sur-Loire (until 2015: canton of Saint-Didier-en-Velay ).

Pont-Salomon is located in the Velay , a landscape in the French Massif Central , and in the Forez about 15 kilometers southwest of Saint-Étienne on the Semène , a tributary of the Loire . Pont-Salomon is surrounded by the neighboring communities Aurec-sur-Loire in the north and north-west, Saint-Ferréol-d'Auroure in the east and north-east, Saint-Didier-en-Velay in the east and south-east, La Séauve-sur-Semène in the south , Monistrol-sur-Loire in the south-west and La Chapelle-d'Aurec in the west and south-west.
The national route 88 runs through the municipality .
history
In 1865 the municipality was formed from parts of the municipalities of Aurec-sur-Loire, Saint-Didier-en-Velay and Saint-Ferréol-d'Aurore.
