The municipality belongs to the arrondissement of Yssingeaux and the canton of Mézenc (until 2015: canton of Tence ). The inhabitants are called Mazentous .

Mazet-Saint-Voy is about 28 kilometers east of Le Puy-en-Velay . Mazet-Saint-Voy is surrounded by the neighboring municipalities of Saint-Jeures in the north and northwest, Tence in the northeast, Le Chambon-sur-Lignon in the east, Les Vastres in the southeast, Fay-sur-Lignon in the south, Champclause in the southwest and Araules in the West.
